Mario Waissbluth is Professor of the Industrial Engineering Department
of Universidad de Chile, founder and now member of the Board of IGT He
has been ratified by the Senate of Chile as member of the High Public
Management Council for the period 2004-2010. This Council is in charge
of proposing short lists of candidates for directors and second level
executives for 100 Civil Services in the country.
Additionally, he is Member of the Board of INVERTEC Foods (an agro
industrial company). He is also Director of POLIS, Latin American
Training Program in Public Management at Universidad de Chile.
He holds a PhD in Chemical Engineering at the University of Wisconsin
(1974), with postdoctoral research in biotechnology.
Formerly, he was Technology Manager at the National Council for
Science and Technology in Mexico, Director of the Center for
Technological Innovation of the National University of Mexico, and Board
Member of CODELCO, the largest copper mining company in Chile. He has
published more than 70 papers and/or book chapters in subjects ranging
from biotechnology to strategic planning, technology management and
public sector management.
His consulting activities include the conduction and/or supervision
of more than 200 projects, mostly in three subjects: technology
policy/management; business strategy, and public sector management.
In the field of public sector management, he has conducted more than
100 projects, many of them for the Interamerican Development Bank and
the World Bank in Ecuador, Venezuela, Colombia, Chile, Perú, Panamá and
Uruguay. |
